C.S.S.C. FAQ

1) When are the soccer seasons?
The College Station Soccer Club has both fall and spring seasons.  The fall season usually starts mid September and runs through mid November. The spring season usually starts in late February and runs through early May.

2) When is registration?
Registration for the fall opens August 1st at cssoccer.org. The closing date will be posted on the registration page and on our Facebook page. We usually have one in-person registration event for the fall. Spring registration typically opens mid-December and closes mid/late January. We usually also have one in-person registration event for the spring season.  For exact dates for registration, please  visit our registration page.  We also regularly post updates on our Facebook and Instagram pages.3) What are the registration fees?
The registration fee for fall or spring only is $110.00.  Registration for both seasons (during the Fall) is $160.00. Players can renew in the spring if they only registered for fall only. The fee to renew your fall registration is $50.00. If you continue in the spring, your child will stay on the same team and will use the same uniform.

4) If I miss the registration deadline can I register late?
If there are open roster spots in a division we will allow enough late registrations to fill those spots.  Any player registered after the deadline will pay a $20 late registration fee.  If you missed the deadline and would like to register a player, please email registrar@cssoccer.com with your request.

5) Can I get a refund?
The College Station Soccer Club has a no refund policy. Once a player has been placed on a roster there will be no refund unless a player is unable to play for medical reasons (proof from a Dr. will be required).

6) What do the fees cover?
The fee covers the player’s uniform, registration with BVYSA, registration and insurance through

STYSA, field fees paid to the city of College Station, referees, medals (for U5-U8), tournament medals (U10-U17), equipment for the teams and administrative costs.

7) What equipment is provided and what will I need to provide for my player?
All players will receive a jersey, soccer socks, and soccer shorts. U5 & U6 first time players will receive a free ball. You are responsible for purchasing shin guards and cleats. All players must wear shin guards at all practices and games. Soccer cleats will be required for all games. Cleats from other sports have a toe cleat and are not allowed. It is also recommended that each player bring a ball to each practice. All teams receive some soccer balls from the league, but it is helpful for players to bring one as many activities require each participant to have a ball.

8) How are players assigned to teams? Can I request my child play with his/her friend?
Teams in the U5 through U8 divisions are formed randomly and no teammate requests can be made. U10 through U17 may make one friend request and request a head coach they would like to play for. Keep in mind that we cannot fill all requests. The in depth explanation of how teams are formed can be found here

9) Can my child be moved to a different team?
No. We would like to be able to fulfill all requests and create the perfect dynamic for every individual, but our volunteers have deadlines to meet to ensure the season goes as smoothly as possible.

10) My child’s coach wants to hold practice on ________ and we have another commitment that day.  What should we do?
All of our coaches are volunteers and most have jobs and families of their own.  The coach sets practice day(s), time(s), and location(s).  You should mention the conflict to the coach and he/she may be able to make another time work.  If nothing can be changed try to make as many practices as possible and let the coach know when the player will be absent.  The player will still be able to participate in games.

11) How much playing time will my child get?
Coaches will make sure each player on the team plays at least half of each game.  Some players will have more playing time than others, but as long as the coach makes sure everyone plays at least half of the game, it is OK.

12) How are coaches chosen for the league?
All our coaches are volunteers.  Everyone who registers to coach must pass a background check (KidSafe) and undergo two online training modules, termed SafeSport and HeadsUp Concussion.  Signing up to coach does not guarantee that you will have a spot to coach, as it is subject to team availability and CSSC approval.

13) Do the referees work for CSSC?  Are they volunteers?
The referees used to officiate our games are provided by the Brazos Valley Soccer Referee Association.  They do receive a fee for each game they officiate, but keep in mind they are paid to officiate the game and are the authority figure no matter their age.  They are to be shown respect by players, coaches, and parents even when the individual disagrees with a decision.  Under NO circumstance should a coach, parent, or player harass an official.

14) Who do I contact if I have questions not answered here?
On our board members page, you can send an email to any board member.  If you have a question about your U7 player, direct the question to the U7 coordinator.  If you have a registration issue email the registrar.  If the first contact is unable to answer your question they will involve the registrar or president in order to get an answer.

15) How can I help the club?
The College Station Soccer Club is a volunteer run organization.  We are always looking for new dedicated members to join the board.  We are also in need of coaches at most age groups and no experience is required.  Financial support is needed as well.  We strive to keep our fees low, but we know there are still youth in need of assistance so we offer scholarships to these players.

16) Will my child be on the same team if he/she plays in both the fall and spring?
In most cases players will stay on the same roster for the fall and spring seasons.  If registration numbers in a particular division are lower in the spring we may have to move a few players to ensure our rosters are full.17) How many games are there each season? Each regular season is made up of 6 or 7 games.  Teams in the U10, U12, U14, and U17 division are invited to participate in our end of season tournament where they can play anywhere from one to three games.
18) Are the teams Coed?U5, U6 and U17 are all coed divisions.  U7, U8, U10, U12 and U14 are all divided by gender, but if a girl would like to be placed onto a boys team the parents can make this request and if there is a spot open we will place her on a team.

19) When will I hear from my child’s coach?
The coaches meeting is listed on the calendar.  This is the day the coaches get their roster and most of them will contact all of their players within 24 hours.  If you have not heard from your child’s coach within a couple days after the meeting please email the age group coordinator for your child’s division.

20) When and how will I get my child’s uniform?
Our uniform coordinator places all of the uniform orders with our vendor.  Once the orders have arrived they are organized and usually handed out at the coaches meeting.  In some cases there may be a delay for some teams who have more than the normal number of players on the roster or for teams that were formed last minute because it took a while to find a coach.

21) How do I know what age group my child is in?
Players are placed in divisions based on their year of birth.  You can see the chart for the season by visiting our division page.

22)  Do you offer scholarships based on financial need?
Yes. If you would like to inquire about a scholarship for your child, please email the CSSC president (president@cssoccer.com) or the CSSC registrar (registrar@cssocer.com).

23)  We need to carpool with a friend and our child is below the age of allowed requests.  Can we still be placed on their team?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate teammate requests below the age group of U10.  However, if the two families want to coach a team together, we are able to place head and assistant coaches children on the same team.  This is easier to accommodate in the fall season since teams are newly formed.  In the spring, it is determined by player numbers.

24)  My child only has certain days that they are able to practice.  How do I know beforehand when my child will practice? All of our coaches are volunteers and most have jobs and families of their own.  The coach sets practice day(s), time(s), and location(s).  We ask flexibility from parents in their schedule to accommodate when the practices are.  We are unable to place kids on teams based on available practice days.

25) What is your photography and/or videography policy?
Please see the policy currently adopted by the CSSC Board at this Link.
